Creating an Enabling Ecosystem for Startups

Melbourne City Council (MCC) sought to understand the potential roles and actions available to local governments in the development of an enabling ecosystem for startups.

They felt the issue appealed to a diversity of opinion and insight and would benefit from a normative response – so they came to MindHive.

MCC simply crafted a problem statement and posted it – open to the entire Hive.

This approach had the dual benefits of providing them with broad base of opinions they sought, as well as ensuring that the project required minimal administrative supervision.

“Using MindHive was simple and required a light touch in terms of administration and engagement.

The fact that it was just a case of crafting a problem statement and posting it in the Hive to see what would come back was useful to us in a time when officers were busy with other matters relating to this policy issue.”
